Poss Music Works (PMW) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that produces festivals & concerts in communities in the Downstate Illinois, serving towns south of I-74 and I-72. We also offer Youth Open Mics, Singalong Saturdays, Songwriter Workshops and Concerts. Find these program descriptions below, including the type of venue that would be appropriate and costs.
If you would like to facilitate a program at your venue but can’t cover the entire cost, we will always try to seek a sponsor or work something out to make it happen. Please contact Bill Poss at possmusicworks@gmail.com to schedule a program or to get answers to any questions you might have. Thanks for your interest in working with Poss Music Works!
Youth Open Mics are a great way to get kids out of their basements and in front of a group of their peers. It’s amazing how many talented young performers we have in our communities and it’s inspiring to see them come out of their shells in front of a microphone and a small crowd. This is generally a 2 hour program, though it has been known to stretch a bit longer. PMW provides a sound system, an emcee and we help to publicize the event to the public.
The cost of the program is $150.
Best suited for: Restaurants, Cafes, Farmer’s Markets, Live Music Venues. Also may work in Music Stores, Libraries and Park Districts.
Singalong Saturdays are fun community building events where all members of the community, but especially kids and the elderly, are invited to gather round a PMW Song Leader who will lead them in singing songs that are family friendly and well known by most people. PMW will provide a sound system where appropriate. This is generally a 1 hour program.
The cost of the program is $150.
Best Suited for: Farmer’s Markets, Park Districts, Assisted Living Facilities or Libraries.
Songwriter Workshops are an educational arts workshop offering guidance on the art of songwriting. This can be geared to beginners or amateurs or both, we generally cater to both at the same time. This program starts with a writing exercise to get people in the swing and then progresses to working on actual songs in progress. This is a two hour program.
The cost of this program is $200.
Best suited for: Libraries, Music Stores, High Schools, Junior Colleges.
Concerts are one of our specialties! We have an extensive network of artists around the area (and nationally) that may be a great fit for your community, a fundraiser, a party, or a special event of your choosing. We can help you tap into what your community would enjoy and help match it to an available venue.
The cost of this program varies by performer; we can advise based on your budget.
Best suited for: Live Music Venues, Restaurants, Cafes, Farmer’s Markets, Parties
